Chapman Electric Co. Inc. was founded in 1935 in Dallas, Texas, by Clifford "RED" Chapman. With a degree in electrical engineering from Texas A&M, Red began his journey in his backyard, driven by a passion for innovation and quality. During World War II, he served as an officer in the U.S. Army, where he designed and set up battery re-manufacturing facilities overseas. Upon returning home, he moved his operations to downtown Dallas, specializing in battery services and the re-manufacturing of electric motors for streetcars.

In the early 1960s, Chapman Electric Co. Inc. transitioned to Red's son, Clifford G. Chapman Junior. Recognizing the growing demands of the material handling industry, Clifford shifted the company’s focus to servicing electric forklift motors, a decision that would pave the way for future success.

Today, Chapman Electric Co. Inc. is proud to be in its third generation of family ownership, led by James and Chris Chapman. Thanks to the invaluable experience and guidance from our predecessors, Chapman Electric Co. Inc. continues to diversify and expand its services to include all types of AC and DC motors, and now caters to customers throughout the United States and beyond.
